Keep the Romance Alive – Even When You’re Both Working Parents

Can you remember the last time you and your spouse spent some quality time together? Is romance something that only happens on your anniversary or Valentine’s Day?

For many couples, finding time to be together can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Between working and taking care of family responsibilities, there may be little left over time for the two of you. When this happens, the romance in your relationship suffers. The questions then arises, can you adjust and find time to keep the romance alive in your relationship?

Yes, here are a few simple ways to keep the romance alive:

Date Night

Yes, this suggestion is an oldie, but a goody. Many times, couples schedule in everything BUT time to spend together. A regular date night is a great way to spend some quality time together away. It is vital to get away from all of the all responsibilities and focus solely on one another. Plan your date night in advance, hire a babysitter and enjoy your evening. If you need more time together, plan a romantic weekend getaway.

It's the Little Things
The little expressions can sometimes mean the most to your spouse. Write them a card or a little note just to say "I love you." Make them their favorite meal. Agree with their movie choice. Tell them how much you appreciate their hard work....and the list goes on and on.

Have a Hobby You Do Together
Think back to when you were dating or before having children...Was there something you liked doing together for fun? Usually when the responsibilities roll in, the hobbies go out the window. Make time for that hobby again or start a new hobby. Take a dance class, go jogging, or cook together. Choose something that you both will enjoy.

PDA
Yes, physical display of affection! Holding hands, a spontaneous and passionate kiss, slow dancing...all excellent ways to keep the passion alive.
