Tips to Make Traveling during the Holiday Season less Stressful

If you’ve decided to travel during this holiday season, prepare yourself for the busiest travel time of the year. You may feel like you are in a zoo rather than an airport and may even experience times when the chaos makes you feel like you are about to lose it. I’ve compiled a list of travel tips that are guaranteed to make your travel experience this year a smoother one.

Packing
Before you start packing, make a list of your necessities. Make a "head to toe" list including everything that you will need. Be selective and remember, if you forget something you can always buy it or borrow it when you arrive at your destination. Be sure to follow the flight carrier's weight restrictions or you may incur a large fee.

When packing your carry-on luggage, check you flight carrier's restrictions as well as TSA requirements. There’s nothing worse than packing something and then having to throw it out because it doesn't meet regulations.

Make a list of phone numbers, directions, and any reservation confirmation numbers that you will need over the course of your trip and keep them in your carry-on luggage. And don't forget to charge your cell phone before you leave!

Go Online
Confirm your flight a few days before you leave. If available, check in for your flight online and print out your boarding pass. This is a great way to save some time and super long lines.

Be Early
Lines are bound to be longer this time of year, so plan accordingly. This includes the parking lot, baggage check-in, and security check.

Entertainment
Due to a busy flight schedule this time of year, you may experience flight delays. There is nothing more frustrating than being bored at an airport, so come prepared to entertain yourself and your kids if they’re traveling with you. Bring along your I-Pod with a good selection of music or even download an audio book. Many board games come in travel size versions and are a great way to keep you and your family busy for hours. Books, magazines, crossword puzzles, and Sudoku are also must-haves. And don't forget some healthy and yummy snacks!

Have a Good Attitude
Attitude is everything. Yes, it's going to be hectic, but isn't it going to be worth it in the end? If you are starting to let your emotions overwhelm you, take a deep breath and realize that anger and frustration will never solve the problem.
