Simple Energy Booster for Frazzled Moms
What’s one thing most busy, working moms are looking for – besides more time? More energy! Are you tired of feeling tired? Between your job and your kids – whether they’re toddlers or teenagers – you might be frazzled or even downright exhausted. According to Health magazine, studies show that women sleep less, stress more, and do more multitasking than men. So that means we need more energy!
I found some simple strategies for instant energy that I wanted to share:
Go on a Quick Walk
According to a recent study by the University of Georgia, you can increase your energy level 20% just by doing a low-intensity exercise like walking. Light workouts help stimulate your body and your mind.
Snack
Keep your blood-sugar level stable by eating five or six small meals a day. This gives your body the constant fuel it needs. Pick something healthy to snack on like an apple, pear, or orange. These fruits are also packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants which should give you a healthy energy boost.
Stay Hydrated
You might think coffee when you need an energy boost and a little caffeine is fine to jumpstart your nervous system. However, too much caffeine can backfire and interfere with sleep. A great alternative to coffee is VitaminWater which is low in calories and its Energy flavors have about half the caffeine of a cup of regular coffee. You can also opt for green tea, which has healthy antioxidants. And don’t forget about drinking enough water, nothing zaps energy like dehydration.
Power Nap
Researchers have found that naps can enhance your ability to learn and process information. When you’re feeling sleep-deprived try napping for 10-20 minutes before mid-afternoon (so you can still fall asleep at night) to give yourself a needed boost.
Stay Positive
Negative thoughts drain your energy. To shift into a more positive mindset, try to spend a few minutes each day feeling grateful for all the good things in your life. This grateful attitude will help you cultivate a greater sense of satisfaction and hopefully give your more energy.
I guess the bottom line is that you need to take care of yourself. If you’re frazzled and exhausted your whole family suffers with you. Have you found simple ways to relieve stress and boost your energy? Please share!
